# Area of a Rhombus Formula

Area of a Rhombus is the amount of space occupied by the rhombus. A rhombus has 4 sides and the opposite sides of the rhombus are equal. A rhombus is also called as an equilateral quadrilateral. A rhombus with internal angles as 90o is a square. The area of the rhombus is half the product of the diagonals.

Question 1: Find the area of a rhombus whose diameters are of length 7 cm and 5 cm ?
Solution:

Given,
d1 = 7 cm
d2 = 5 cm

Area of a rhombus

= $\frac{1}{2}$ d1d2

= $\frac{1}{2}$ * 7 * 5 cm2

= $\frac{35}{2}$ cm2

= 17.5 cm2

Question 2: Find the area of a rhombus whose diameters are of length 21 cm and 13 cm ?
Solution:

Given,
d1 = 21 cm
d2 = 13 cm

Area of a rhombus

= $\frac{1}{2}$ d1d2

= $\frac{1}{2}$ * 21 * 13 cm2

= $\frac{273}{2}$ cm2

= 136.5 cm2
