# Cosine Formula

Cosine Formula is normally used to calculate the angle of the right triangle. It is the relation between the angles and sides of the right triangle. Cosine Formula is the trigonometry ratio of the adjacent side to the hypotenuse side of the right triangle. Cosine is a periodic and even function and sometimes shortened as 'cos'.

## Cosine Problems

Some solved problems on cosine are given below:

### Solved Examples

Question 1: Calculate the cosine angle of a right triangle given the adjacent side and hypotenuse are 11 cm and 20 cm respectively ?
Solution:

Given,  Adjacent side = 11 cm
Hypotenuse = 20 cm

$\cos \theta$ = $\frac{Adjacent}{Hypotenuse}$

$\cos \theta$  = $\frac{11 cm}{20 cm}$

$\cos \theta$ = 0.55

Question 2: Find the cosine angle of a right triangle whose adjacent side and hypotenuse are 23 cm and 32 cm respectively ?
Solution:

Given, Adjacent side = 23 cm
Hypotenuse = 32 cm

$\cos \theta$ = $\frac{Adjacent}{Hypotenuse}$

$\cos \theta$ = $\frac{23 cm}{32 cm}$

$\cos \theta$ = 0.72
