Solved Examples

Question 1: Reduce 0.5 into fraction
Solution:

Given decimal is 0.5

There is only one digit after decimal point. Hence multiply and divide it by 10

0.5 $\times$ $\frac{10}{10}$= $\frac{5}{10}$

Reduce it to simplest form to get

$\frac{5}{10}$ = $\frac{1}{2}$.

Hence fraction form of 0.5 is $\frac{1}{2}$.

Question 2: Reduce 0.375 into fraction
Solution:

Given decimal is 0.375

There are 3 digits after decimal point. Hence multiply and divide it by 1000

0.375 $\times$ $\frac{1000}{1000}$ = $\frac{375}{1000}$

Reduce it to simplest form to get

$\frac{375}{1000}$ = $\frac{15}{40}$

  =  $\frac{3}{8}$.

Hence the fraction form of 0.375 is $\frac{3}{8}$.
