# Triangular Pyramid Formula

A pyramid is constructed by connecting a base to an apex. A triangular pyramid is a pyramid having a triangular base. The tetrahedron is a triangular pyramid having congruent equilateral triangles for each of its faces. In other words a pyramid which has a triangular base is called triangular pyramid.There are two major formulas for triangular pyramid.

## Examples of Triangular Pyramid

Below find some solved examples of triangular pyramid :

### Solved Examples

Question 1:
Find the volume of a triangular pyramid when base area is 10 cm2 and height is 4 cm ?

Solution:
Given base area = 10 cm2
and height = 4 cm

Volume = $\frac{1}{3}$ Base Area $\times$ Height

Volume = $\frac{1}{3}$ 10 $\times$ 4

Volume = 13.33 cm3

Question 2:
Find the surface area of a triangular pyramid when base area is 15 cm2, side length 4 cm and perimeter 5 ?

Solution:
Given base area = 15 cm2
side length = 4 cm
and perimeter = 5
Surface Area = Base area + $\frac{1}{2}$ $\times$ Perimeter $\times$ Side Length

Surface Area = 15 + $\frac{1}{2}$ $\times$ 5 $\times$ 4

Surface Area = 25 cm2
